Three kittens were each playing with a piece of colored string.  One piece of string was red, one was blue, and one was yellow.  When the kittens were called to the kitchen to eat, they each hid their string before going.  One piece of string was hidden under the sofa.  One piece of string was hidden behind the television.  One piece of string was hidden under a chair cushion.  When they went back to the living room after eating, they couldn’t remember where they had hidden their pieces of string.

“I know I didn’t put mine near the sofa,” said the kitten whose string was red.

“I didn’t put mine by the television,” said the kitten who had been playing with the yellow string.

“I didn’t either,” the kitten whose string was red said.

Where was each piece of string hidden?
